Most people are about to lose their jobs to systems that do not need them. The right response is not nostalgia for the old work, and it is not panic. It is to build the layer where humans direct, decide, and create meaning while agents execute.

The CV is over. It was over the moment a recruiter could put a language model between themselves and a thousand resumes. The file that replaces it has to be readable by both sides. It has to be owned by the person it describes. It has to live forever in plain text and walk through any door.

One file, one URL, one signature.

human.md is not a profile, not a service, not a paid tier. It is a small, strict markdown spec that anyone can implement. The required sections cover identity, current focus, what you are open to, and how to reach you. The optional sections cover philosophy, proof, frameworks, what you refuse. The verifiable sections come later, signed by the sources that can vouch for them.

The protocol matters more than the page.

Every human.md is paired with an MCP endpoint. Agents can ask questions, check availability, request an intro. The person behind the file decides what is exposed and on what terms. The platform never sees the conversation, never trains on the answers, never sells the contact list. Delete your file and every endpoint stops responding within minutes.

Open or it does not work.

A proprietary format would be ignored. So the spec is MIT, the parser is MIT, the reference MCP server is MIT. Anyone can host. Anyone can extend. Write your file. Host it where you want. Talk back when you are ready. If a hundred people do this in a month, the standard is real. If a thousand do it in a quarter, the standard wins. Either way, the only way to find out is to publish.
