Is this a database of candidates?

No. There is no central database. Each candidate hosts their own human.md, the directory just indexes the public ones. Delete your file, you disappear from the directory within minutes.

How is this different from LinkedIn search?

We rank against the candidate's own writing, not a recruiter-rewritten profile. The MCP layer means an agent can ask follow-ups grounded in the file. There are no inMails to ration, no premium tier in front of the data.

What does the ATS field actually do?

It is a custom URL field your applicant fills in with their human.md address. Your AI screening tools read the URL before the recruiter does and pull citations from the file. It does not replace anything you have, it adds a richer signal next to the resume.

Will the company MCP endpoint surface employee personal data?

Only what the employee chose to publish. The endpoint is a thin proxy over public human.md files. Private fields stay private, Verifiable Credentials add signed claims without exposing the source data.

Where is data stored, and can we self host?

Hosted endpoints run in the EU primary region with US optional. The parser, the MCP server, and the directory are MIT licensed, you can run all three on your own infrastructure on the day you decide to.

Is this really free?

Yes. The standard is open, MIT licensed, and stewarded by Blank Collar. There is no paid SKU between you and the open file. Anything anyone builds on top of it is a layer above an open base, not a replacement of it.
